“ Chewology has been on my list forever and I'm glad I finally stopped in. Located in the old Bluestem (RIP) spot in Westport, this is a fun and colorful spot for dumplings. The menu definitely encourages sharing small plates, which is the best anyways. We tried various dishes including the pork dumpling, xiao long bao, the beef and scallion pancake platter, pickled cucumber and the crab rice. Our favs were the pickled cucumbers actually and the beef and scallion pancake platter. The dumplings were just ok I would say, missing in flavor depth, but still worth trying. The crab fried rice was flavorful too! Overall definitely recommend stopping in. Fun vibes all around and great for sharing plates. Final review: 4/5 stars ”

“ Went looking for a cozy noodle shop in Kansas City and landed at Chewology. The restaurant is a hip, sultry spot with an open kitchen concept. The smell and humidity of the broth hits you immediately when you walk in from the deep-winter cold. We ordered a variety of dishes to taste the menu. The smacked cucumbers were delicious with a divine texture. The tofu bao was flavorful and fluffy. The mushroom ramen was very earthy and the noodles were cooked al-dente. The flavor was very umami but I did feel a little unsatisfied afterward. I would try a different noodle dish next time. Lastly, the Dan Dan noodle and Xiao Long Bao were the stars of the show. The Dan Dan noodles were so so flavorful, perfectly cooked and filling. The Xiao Long Bao were perfect. Great soup to filling ratio. And the bao dough was *chef's kiss*. It seemed everything was cooked to order so be prepared to wait accordingly. But it was easy to wait in their refined space. The tables were tight, for more intimate eating. Not sure a group would sit well here. ”

“ Named to the best restaurants in KC for a reason! The whole menu is full of excellent umami flavors that leave you wanting more. Thoroughly enjoyed everything that we had including the three cup mushroom ramen, Dan Dan noodles, fried chicken (the breading on these was excellent) dumplings and dressed eggs. Service was excellent! Our server walked us through the whole menu giving recommendations based on special diets and preferences in our group. The cocktails were also unique with some really eclectic and surprising flavor combos. One of our groups favorites was the headless quench man for the sour and spicy flavors. Overall, this is a fantastic place for a special dinner out. A lot of reviews mention that it's pricey, which it is, but we thought the price matched the elevated dining experience and quality of food, drinks and service. ”

“ Amazing food experience with great service and this really fun funky environment with an open kitchen. Wanted to order everything on the menu. The cocktail program is also really unique and complements the food. We ordered a couple of rounds of food, the fried chicken was moist and flavorful, the dumplings were delicious, the deviled eggs I could have eaten two plates, and all the noodle dishes felt authentic and fun and good. Absolutely a must stop if you enjoy the cuisine and will be back next time I'm in town. ”

“ The last time I visited Kansas City, Chewology was located in the Lenexa Public Market, and I enjoyed every bite of their food. Even though I had just eaten and wasn't particularly hungry, I wanted to check out their expansion and try their food again--there's just so much to eat in so little time! I ordered their Dan Dan Spicy Peanut Ramen, and it was absolutely delicious. I loved the texture of the ramen--it was soft and chewy--and the sauce was flavorful with a nice spicy kick. I definitely want to visit again when I'm not so full so that I can order more items! :) ”

“ Chewology in Kansas City's Westport neighborhood is a standout spot for Taiwanese cuisine, created by Chef Katie Liu-Sung, who was recently nominated for a prestigious James Beard Award in the "Best Chef - Midwest" category. Known for its Taiwanese comfort dishes like dumplings and bao, Chewology puts a unique Midwest twist on traditional recipes, using local, sustainable ingredients whenever possible. We went during the Moon Bar cocktail pop-up, and while the cocktails were fun, the food took center stage. The soup dumplings alone were worth the trip--delicate, flavorful, and unlike anything else in KC. I just wish they offered a few more dumpling varieties because I would've gladly tried them all. With a sophisticated yet cozy atmosphere and a focus on high-quality, thoughtfully prepared dishes, this place is a must for any foodie in Kansas City. We're already planning our next visit to explore more of the menu. ”
